We went into this game knowing that we had to double Roundwood E's score in order to improve our chances of promotion.
We got off to a great start with a few centre pass set plays in place and working well. We managed to turn Roundwood E’s first centre around and fell into a good pace of play. Our confidence was boosted when winning the first quarter 8-2.
The defensive half did some impressive blocking and managed to turn around the ball throughout the game. There was smooth play up the court, and once it reached the D as shooters we managed to mirror each other and focus on splitting and giving each other space, with improved concentration on rebounds.
Although we managed to keep ahead by a large margin, Roundwood E fought back, especially in the second and fourth quarters; this led us to play up to their standard of play and get 17 goals in the second quarter and 16 in the last.
The final quarter was extremely tense as we knew we were close to doubling their score but there wasn’t any room for error: managing to succeed in the last few minutes with a final score of 51-25.
I think we all agree that this was one of our best games yet, and congratulations to Fiona who got Player of the Match, a firm favourite with the opposition across the season!
