Storming to victory with a confident display of netball prowess, the Es have finally hit their stride. Gelling together as a team for the first time, they came through a sticky, close 1st quarter before powering through the 2nd to assert their dominance. Erin and Alice were sterling in defence - as impenetrable as the Thames Barrier, they limited Lifeline's shooters' options. Ella brilliantly kept as close to her opposition as a lioness stalks its prey, effectively taking her opposite number out of play, before she had to retire after the second quarter due to injury.
With eyes sharper than eagles, Miriam and Gayle were exceptional throughout with their shooting as well as getting the all-important rebound. Meanwhile in centre court, Steph, Kerry and Kirsty began to mesh together like a carefully knitted jumper, getting the ball effectively down court.
Though a few unforced errors crept in at the beginning of the 3rdquarter with the switch-around of positions, the Es settled into the game before surging forward in the final quarter, riding the wave of confidence to seal the win.
Lifeline were gallant and friendly opposition, and put on exceptional and well-received spread. Post-match analysis indicated the Es need to work on their back-line passes and communication on court to avoid unnecessary backward passes. However, they can be proud of their first team win together.
