Wandsworth E vs. Phoenix J - 39-35 (by Daisy)

With only 7 available we knew it was going to be a long game for all of us on Saturday morning. Q1 saw us repeat last weeks shocker of a first quarter performance and Phoenix got in front 9-11. We were making silly mistakes and throughly annoyed ourselves. We certainly learnt our lesson - a good warm up is key!! At the end of the Q we had a stern word with ourselves and went back on court determined to show what we could do.

Steph and Helen were up against a very tough defence and worked brilliantly together moving the ball around the D. Steph was drawing out both defenders to allow Helen to sink her shots. By the end of the Q Wandsworth were in front 20-18.

At half time we knew that mid court needed a little bit of work and in Q3 the plan all came together with us moving in front 30-23. Erin and Harriet in defence were doing a great job putting pressure on their shooters and this was reflected in the score for the Q! Kirsty, Bec & Daisy worked well together getting the turnovers and putting pressure on the ball making Phoenix's job as hard as they could.

Phoenix had a change around going into the final Q which saw them coming storming back and got 6 goals in a row. However our heads didn't go down and we were determined not to let them get our win. We dug in, worked as a team and finished the game with a very well deserved win! Well done to POM Steph who was up against two defenders most of the match!!
