Wandsworth E vs. CMO B - 36-24 (by Harriet)

Having had a great start to the season in our new leagues and being unbeaten we were looking forward to another challenging game of netball.

We were only able to field 6 players due to holidays so it was a frantic rush to find our 7th player - huge thank you to Lauren from the Ds who pulled a back to back...

We were playing CMO who are a good side and we knew it would be a tough match. But we went out feeling upbeat and confident taking the first quarter 10-6 which was no justification for sitting back....
Helen's shooting with Erin's support feeding to the D was formidable in spite of some pretty brutal defence and as the game wore on we began to pull the goal difference away - 4 in Q1, 5 in Q2, 9 in Q3, and 12 in Q4. It's musnt be underestimated Erin's contribution to the goal total.

Everyone was playing to the utmost of their abilities p, the defence was very tight with many interceptions, especially from Amy, who won player of the match - her timing was impeccable, coming out of nowhere. Daisy, Bec and Lauren were carrying it through centre court very effectively using space across the court really well and so we began to pull away from a tired a CMO team - evident that their fitness was not the same as ours in some key positions. We ended in a convincing win of 36-24.

All in all, one of our best games and a pleasing outcome against a team who have beaten us in the past. As there is work to be done, and perhaps holding space should be a priority - too many occasions we were making too much work for ourselves from running around rather than holding space. Also ensuring that all attacking players are also remembering to defence - arms up!
