Wandsworth E vs. Chequers D - 52-38 (by Erin)

he E's got off to a very bright and early start this week, to take on Chequers D. They got promoted alongside us last season, so we were prepared for a close game. Although the first quarter wasn't the best netball we've ever played, we got off to a pretty solid start unlike in previous matches, finishing 11-9.

The second quarter was certainly our best. We were able to move the ball into the shooting circle more directly, and keep possession with some patient play. We had the luxury of plenty of shooters this weekend, so could play around with various combinations, with Hannah, Helen and Izzy all contributing to the goals, thanks to some good play down court by Steph and Daisy.

Chequers won the third quarter, taking the score from 18-27 to 30-37. However, we got ourselves together for the final quarter and minimised unforced errors to extend our lead further. Some solid work in defence by Bec, Amy and Erin left Chequers attack quite frustrated. The game finished with a solid 52-38 win.

Well done to Amy for lots of strong interceptions that earned her POM from the umpires, and Hannah who's great shooting (again) was nominated by the opposition. Bec's Tom is putting his hand up early for the 'Tom of the Year Award' for his consistent supporting- contributions from other Tom's welcome- it's early days.
