Wandsworth E vs. Lifeline B - 55-16 (by Bec)

It was a crisp but stunning blue skied morning in Wallington for the E's. An early morning change led to some last minute team panic but nothing was going to phase a win for the girls. Down to 6 players and one shooter, we dropped a wing and Amy stepped up to the challenge to support Hannah in the D. And up to the challenge she was - within seconds she landed our first goal against Lifeline- and celebrated accordingly (of course!). Pulled up on footwork a few times, although we finished the first quarter 5 - 12, we knew we needed to play safe and careful for the rest of the game.

2nd quarter and in the lead but conscious we were only 6, Kirsty, Bec and Catherine covered the mid court smoothly and carefully and worked the ball down the court. Lifeline stepped up their attack but with some great blocks and tips from Lucy and Catherine in the D, they only managed 4 goals so halfway through we were still leading 18 - 9.

Now a full team, Hannah switched us around to get our a strengths into position. Fiery defence and fluid feeding in to the D led to an unstoppable third quarter. Hannah showcased some England netball standard by stealing away numerous shots from the outer edges of the D. At 37 - 15 the focus shifted to keeping Lifeline away from half our score.

Still up against it in the defending D, defence were hot on the rebounds and made sure any attempt was turned over and fed safely back down towards attack - proof was in the pudding here as Lifeline only managed one goal in the closing quarter! A final victory score of 55 - 16!
