Wandsworth E vs. Phoenix B - 57-28 (by Kirsty)

It was a game of two-halves, but Wandsworth Es stepped up to the plate and kept their eye on the ball at all times to clinch this important victory in the Met league.

From the whistle, the team were ready to play hardball. The ball was in their court, literally, and Bec - taking one for the team as Centre - didn’t pull any punches and got the ball up court swiftly. From the off, the movement was sublime, but our opponents managed to keep up with us with sneaky overhead passes into the circle. 12-10.

Coming on for the second half, Hannah had her game face on and partnered with Izzy, they managed to smash the ball into the back of the net (18 times). Defence was tight with Catherine and Erin causing the opposition to start losing morale as they failed to capitalise on any attacks into the circle. 30-17.

In quarter 3, our team were in a league of their own. They knocked it out of the park as their opponents seemed to crumble before their eyes. Both wings, Steph and Kirsty, seemed to hold all the aces as they quickly converted each intercepted ball back up court, with Helen and co. blisteringly on target. 36-22.

Thinking our opponents were out for the count, we briefly took our eye off the ball in quarter 4 and they rallied to score several goals in quick succession. The game was back on. We needed to score quickly to keep them from getting double our score to get the extra points. And, by a nose, our blazing shooters managed to sneak in a few goals minutes before the whistle was blown. Slam dunk. 57-28.
