This week the As took on Crystal Palace A. Cara stepped into play centre and a different line up from the first two matches gave us the chance to try out some new combinations in defence and centre court.
It took us a while to settle in the first quarter. Some loose passes and errors saw Crystal Palace end the quarter up 10-8.
We settled into the match in the second. Good passages of play all the way down the court and great conversion rates from Rach and Bex meant we went into HT up by 4.
Palace really stepped up their game in the third, with their GA sinking shots from all over the D. Combined with some tired Wandsworth legs, we ended the quarter trailing by 3.
A reshuffle for the final quarter, saw Keri back on in GD, Laura S moving into WD and Tara into WA. Awesome defensive pressure all the way down the court meant Palace were often forced backwards and Keri and Elka were all over the shooters, forcing a lot of turnovers. The transition from defence to attack really gelled in this quarter and quick feeds into the circle together with pinpoint shooting from Rach and Bex, saw the As overturn the deficeit and come home with the win - 43-38.
A great team performance and the As first win of the season. Props to Rach who got PoM, and a massive well done to Cara who played a stormer of a match at centre - deservedly getting player's player.
