In news nearly as exciting as Kylie’s baby announcement, we lost our game to Hilcrest A.

I won’t break down the quarters as it’s Sunday night and I forgot to write this. It was a tough game and it pissed it down from the moment we got there to the moment we left. We started well, goal for goal for the whole first quarter. Really patient play from Laura and Jen feeding the ball brilliantly to the Tabs and Bex, who were quite frankly getting battered in the circle by a very sassy GK. #contactnotcontest. Hilcrest defence was brilliant (by brilliant I mean they turned over a shit load of balls just by putting their arms up, but yes they were 2 feet away and VERY contacty) but as I said, brilliant.

We played some fantastic netball and definitely lifted our game playing against them. Our attacking play was excellent, and the patience by everyone in the shooting circle, as well as the strong back up Kez and Tara was by far some of the best we’ve played all season. We lost the game in the third quarter, they started extremely strong and got about 8 goals within 3 minutes, which meant we were constantly trailing, but for the rest of the quarter, and the match really, it was neck and neck. Also a shout out to Rach and Han who swapped in as shooters onto the front line (shooting circle) in the 3rd quarter, they had some serious show boat shots and the crowd was going WILDDDDD, and throwing their drinks, and streakers were running across the court and the umpires were dabbing, but that’s what happens when it’s #nothingbutnetbabyyyyy (please note: this may or may not have happened).

Credit where credits due, Hilcrest were young (yes, there were pre-pubescent hormones all over the shop) and fit, and their work ethic was faultless. If there was a loose ball, or mistake, they capitalised on everything. Keri summed it up well, we could do with taking a bit of Hilcrest with us to every game!

Their teas were also the finest we’ve had all season. We had cups of tea in actual mugs, sandwiches and hummus. HUMMUS!
