The A’s had an interesting start to their game with a broken-down car leading to a 6 player start. However, even though we were one man down the defence quickly adjusted to having a free WA and kept the pressure on throughout. Tara immediately settled into her season debut at GA, working well with Sophie S, Laura Mc and Sophie H around the circle, playing the ball around and putting the goals away. At the whistle, we were only one goal down, with a score of 13-14.

The start of the second quarter saw the arrival of Holly who came on strong at WD. Unfortunately, after a successful tip on the edge of the circle she managed to split the joint on her middle finger. Despite a lot of blood and her whole hand being quickly bandaged up by Emma, she got straight back on court and played the rest of the game! A true hero! Both teams battled hard and finished at half time at 25-25.

The intensity continued into the second half from both teams. Laura S and Emma worked tirelessly in the defending circle against two great shooters. There was great attacking play seen all the way down the court from Sophie H and Laura Mc with both players getting onto circle edge for some great feeds into the circle. Laura S and Holly consistently provided back up for some effective resets into our attacking 3rd and some smooth turn-overs were seen finished with great shooting by both Sophie S and Tara. Another awesome quarter ending 35-35.

A chat from captain Laura Mc before the start of last quarter saw everyone head onto court with a real fire for the win. Coombe started to make some silly mistakes, yet we maintained our drive and a cool head and continued to play our game. Laura S made some unbelievable interceptions which lead to some great play down the court allowing Tara and Sophie to repeatedly put the goals away. Great teamwork and support was shown consistently throughout and everyone put in 110% effort. During the last two minutes, we managed to really pull away and the final whistle went with an end score of 49-42! A really great game girls and a really satisfying win! Wishing Holly a speedy recovery too, she really was an absolute champ, and a big thanks to the Wandsworth girls who stayed to cheer us on!
