Wandsworth A vs. Portas: 55 - 58 (by Leanne)

It was a gusty start to a wintery Saturday morning, but spirits were high with not a rain drop insight.
1st quarter started off with a front ball game keeping the wind in mind for those overhead balls, and working out new strategies throughout the court with some new combos. Claire helped in defence and so we had some great on court coaching and with livvi in WA we had some strong feeds into Tabs and Rach who were on form with their shooting, we took the 1st quarter 16-14.

2nd quarter ended 28-28 with Portas keeping strong on the man on marking and attacking hard on a few of our centre passes that they converted to goal. We had a great half time talk with Laura motivating us to push harder and win back those lose balls and some sideline coaching from Keri.

The 3rd quarter saw Wandsworth pushing through the chilly winds with some awesome drives on to the circle by Laura, who easily saw how Rach and Tabs were holding and therefore feeding in some pocket and quick balls kept us in tight reach with Portas strong shooters who shot from anywhere in the circle. The quarter ended 41-42.

Another new combo with Harry coming on as GK meant we had some height in the circle and consequently had some amazing rebounds and a tip top lean against the one handed shooter. Our defensive line was strong with Tara getting hand over ball forcing errors, and leanne out hunting for those cross court balls. There was a few tough calls in the circle, but unfortunately this didn't stop them from taking the lead ending 55-58 to Portas.
