Tabs, Rach, Livvi, Jen, Smalls, Claire, Leanne, Laura POM: Rach PP: Jen

After an early start for the A’s and a drive halfway across Surrey we arrived at the Warlingham rugby grounds eager to prove ourselves against a team who had previously beaten us by 24 goals and who are currently sitting second in the league. When the opposition asked if they could film the game for their A-levels we were left feeling a little ancient but, determined not to let our age get in the way we came out of the gates firing and managed to maintain this momentum for the full 60 minutes.

What can I say really, it was a brilliant team game and really showed just how far we have come along as a team this season. The score was tied at the end of the first, the second, and the third quarter, meaning the last quarter was a nail biter and it was in the last couple of minutes of the fourth quarter we managed to pull away by two and come away with a win!

Tabs and Rach were once again working so well together and sinking goals swish swish (just like the Katy Perry song as pointed out by Liv in her new weekly podcast), the feeds and relentless running against a very fast and agile defence from Liv and Jen was amazing, and Smalls, Claire and Leanne did a stellar job in defence shutting down the attack and picking off turnovers. And an injured Captain McCambridge provided some vital support from the sideline.

Some other memorable moments included:
Smallwood taking the rules into her own hands in the dying moments of the game and deciding it was ok to sneakily take a few passes in the circle despite wearing the WD bib. Everyone noticed except her and the umpire so we may have dodged a small bullet there.
The game being called to a stopped due to a bit of bird poop getting on the ball. No way us girls were touching that!
The match teas which were definitely in the running for bets match teas of the season, Rach in particular was extremely excited with the mini rolls and hummus + pita bread.
Overall a brilliant game by all proving ourselves against a county team. POM went deservedly to Rach and PP to our own pocket rocket Jen.
