After winning the Chairman's Cup in 2018, the pressure was ON to ensure that we didn't "do a Germany" and crash out in the first round. Captain Laurs wanted to use this opportunity to play around with combinations and really work on some areas of the game that needed improving.

HS were worthy opponents - they had a solid, strong GA who was incredibly accurate, a GD who covered a lot of ground in the circle, and they were really quick at getting the ball down the court. We worked hard to close this latter part down especially, forcing the zone and squeezing them to either side, allowing for Smalls, Claire and Leanne to pick off the loose balls throughout the game. Jen put pressure on all the way down with arms over and Laura and Soph fed beautifully to the D.

The third Q left little to be desired - could've been all the changes, could've been the cold, or could've just been that there were a few brain farts going on - but by the end it was super settled and we were working back to our pace of game.
The fourth Q was our crowning glory - passes were slick, shots were going in and everyone on court was actually loving a bit of netball for a change!

Shout out to Rach who could not miss, pinging them in from all angles and POM deservedly went to Smalls.
