This week, we knew it was going to be a tough match with Nuns sitting above us on goal difference in the table.
We started strong, but Nuns shooters soon got their eye in. With the rain, the ball and the court were both getting wetter, making the game even more tough. Everyone dug deep and continued to put pressure on all the way down the court - great interceptions from the defence of Clare and Laura meant there were plenty of turnovers. Nuns zonal defence all the way down the court made it hard to play into the circle, but Jules, Georgie, Nicki and Zoe all worked the ball around, resetting when needed. Anna and Kiran had some trouble in the circle with positioning but still managed to rack up the goals.
We had a last minute scare when Clare was asked to come off (annoying blood rule!). Jules stepped up into GD, Georgie came on to WD and Laura S moved into GK. Nuns had possession and we only had a 2 goal lead. They quickly converted meaning with seconds on the clock, there was a goal in it. Jules made an awesome interception to prevent a tie and making sure we kept possession for the remainder of the game we ended 28-27 up.
