Back in action for 2018 and off to a great start! We had a predictably rocky start to the first quarter but settled in nicely towards the end with some calmer play through mid court by Nicki and Zoe. A pep talk at quarter time by coach Clare gave us a few things to focus on moving into the second.

Moving Jules to WA and Zoe to WD, we really found our groove and the game started to flow. Some typical flying intercepts from Clare had the sideline yelling ‘yes Clare!’ on repeat, excluding the umpire who thought it reasonable to give Clare a caution and then a warning for intimidation and observing the Chequers GS hopping around the court with the ball in hand. Safe to say that it was one of the many questionable calls made by the umpire and despite Clare being the unsportsmanlike player she supposedly is, she kept on keeping on and Ten and Kiran did a great job of converting the turnovers created. We extended the lead considerably to a comfortable 12 goals and really started to enjoy being back at netball!

No changes at half time and we decided to really put our foot down and cement our lead. Harri and Zoe had their hands over everything in GD and WD and got some great intercepts and tips off the Chequers centre passes. The outstanding feeding and movement from Nicki and Jules put Kiran and Ten into great shooting positions and they just couldn’t miss.
49-18
With a comfortable enough lead, a poorly me took the court at GS and Kiran moved into GA. We let Clare out of the GK cage and Harri dropped in to mix things up. Nicki moved into WD after three quarters at C with Zoe taking over. Some great calm and patient feeding from Zoe and Jules made it easier for us shooters to extend the lead and the Chequers attack barely got a look in with our defenders flying all over the court. A great first game back for the Bs with Clare as the obvious POM (despite her misconduct) and a joint PP was shared between Nicki, Jules and Clare again.
A special shout out to our lovely Caiti who sadly did her ACL in our last match against the Cs :(. You’ll be massively missed for the rest of this season but we are sure you’ll make a full and speedy recovery!
