We knew that today was going to be a tough game against top-of-the-league team Redhill but we were ready for a challenge. With new combinations of players thanks to some of the B team standing in we spent the first quarter getting used to each other’s styles of play and this adjustment time allowed our opponents to get the edge on us and we ended the quarter 5 down.

We came back really fighting in the second quarter with some fantastic work in attack from Anneka and Jules to feed into Livvi and Kiran who converted shot after shot, teamed with some tight defence and great interceptions. Thanks to this mammoth effort we ended up clawing back 9 goals to give us a lead of 4 at half time.

We entered the third quarter positive and ready to start pulling away, however the other team came out fighting too. There was some lovely play in defence from Bex and Clare and some great work from the shooters finding space against a very pushy defence but with a few balls lost, Redhill were able to close in on us and the quarter ended with Redhill up by 1.

The last quarter was war with both teams coming out all guns blazing for the battle. We started strong and a couple of great turnovers in centre court meant that we edged ahead once again, however the lead was short lived. Everyone dug deep for the last few minutes and there was some fantastic play however as the final whistle went we were beaten to victory by 1 goal. A frustrating end to a well fought game.
