Wandsworth C vs. Whyteleafe B: 50-27 (by Mel)

We arrived at Shirley, pumped after a great training session and keen to bag another win!

We started off really well. A new shooting combination of Mel and Amy made it look like they had played together for years, running circles around the defence. With smooth and easy play down the court conversions were made to almost all of the turnovers. Some tough defence by Harri and Faye kept Warren's score low. We ended the first quarter up 17 - 7.

Back on for our second quarter and hoping to add substantially to our lead. Mixing it up with Anna and Faye in defence, they managed to grab every rebound possible. Along with seamless feeding into the circle from Bec and Jules. Add to that the fantastic court side support from Wandsworth we went into half time leading 28 - 12.

Going into the third quarter we decided to test out our zone defence. We successfully sent Warren into a panic with a few extra turn overs going our way. With some high percentage shooting both ends and Warren stepping up their game a little, the third quarter was pretty evenly matched. We finished up drawing this quarter, bringing our scores to 38 - 22.

With a little pep talk from coach Claire we went in keen to build on our zone defence. We made the change to actively going in and attacking for more intercepts and making loads more noise. With every single person putting everything into it, but especially Bec and Max flying in to pick up multiple tips and intercepts. We pulled back away, more than doubling their score for this quarter.
