Arriving at Bank of England early on Saturday morning, WNC Cs were ready and raring to take to the moss covered courts.
We went out in the first quarter aware and a little cautious of the ground underfoot. More like an ice rink than a netball court, a couple of the team ended up on the floor and Max performed the full splits. This quarter was goal for goal and WNC finished one behind BOE10 WNC 9.
After a team talk, we stepped back on in the second quarter with drive and determination to pull away the score. Following some fab turn overs from Harri and exceptional movement down the court WNC pulled away finishing the quarter 25-23 up.
Half time and of course, time for onion flavoured oranges! Whether this was intentional or an accident we do not know but we’ve definitely noted it as a tip for the future to put off the opposition. Fresh legs on court and some tactical ball rolling from Hannah allowed WNC to increase the lead further, finishing 36 - 29.
Fourth and final quarter WNC battled against continuous contact, in the form of chest slams and undercutting but continued to pull away the finishing the quarter 52-37.
A great game followed by afternoon tea. Delightful as it was, whipped cream not clotted left a couple of the team baffled as to what should come first, the cream or the jam, as the whipped cream was just not a stable enough base to spread the jam onto!
Shout out to Harri for our Players Player. Flying around the court, intercepting balls left eight and centre.
