Saturday came and the D's woke to a snowy East Croydon. With slight trepidation about weather conditions we started to warm up and get ready for the game.
The first quarter started and selsdon pulled ahead by 2. After a few minutes though Wandsworth woke up and after some great turnovers by our defence finished the quarter 5-3 up.
We went into second quarter determined to get a stronger lead. Great movement in the circle between Ten and Fran (who adapted to the shooting circle with ease) made it very easy for centre court to feed balls into them. However even though Wandsworth had stepped up and started the play their game we still finished the quarter only ahead by 3 (13-10).
After a pep talk from Em we stepped onto court for what was the be our best quarter. Wandsworth managed to to push their lead and get 19 goals in 15 minutes finishing the quarter 32-11 up. This was all due to great teamwork across the board with Sarah, Tash and Em getting turnovers for fun and the shooters carrying on their streak of goal after goal and also Leigh's calm head ensuring that the shooters had options in the windy conditions.
Fourth quarter went smoothly with Wandsworth adding more goals to the score line whilst keeping calm heads. Final score 43-15.
