Even after a nice lie-in and a good warm up we were apprehensive going into the game on Saturday afternoon. Still, we came out fighting in the first quarter, with some great feeds into the circle from Gayle and fantastic shooting from Hannah and Becky. Crystal Palace unfortunately managed to scrape ahead ending the first quarter on 13-8.
The second quarter started well, with some good tips in the defensive circle from Erin. Daisy and Syan also helping to move the ball down Court steadily, however unfortunately for us, Crystal Palace also found their feet and took advantage of any error we made, ending the first half with an 18 goal lead.
With only 7 players meaning no room for anyone to tire, we knew the second half was going to be tough. Unfortunately for us, Crystal Palace had brought an army of players, so were able to rotate almost all players at half time. We fought until the bitter end, but unfortunately as we all tired, slight errors here and there were inevitable and Crystal Palace weren't letting us get away with any of them, meaning the game ended on 62-33.
A HUGE thank-you to Daisy and Erin for stepping in to help us out (needless to say that would have been an awful game to play with only 5...)
