Following a good midweek training session and with a full team available, the Ds were looking forward to a good match. Despite a thorough warm-up, we struggled to find our rhythm in the first quarter. We were running into the same spaces and failed to convert all opportunities in the circle. This meant that we were down at the end of the first quarter.

With a few position changes, we started to work together better in the second quarter. Dami and Lauren worked tirelessly in defence to stop the on form Roundwood shooters. However we struggled to make back the first quarter deficit.

The third quarter we rallied, working more cohesively and improving our movement down court. Hannah was converting from all over the D and we ended up winning the quarter by 1. The fourth quarter was just as tight, with each team converting from their centre pass. Despite some good play, we couldn't make up the difference from the first quarter, resulting in a loss. Given this was the first game of the season most of us had played together, it was a really good start. Lots of positives to take forward and some clear areas to work on in training.
