We started the game well against HSBC, with them taking the centre pass scoring straight away but we ensured we were matching them goal for goal. A couple of errors despite some great turn overs meant we finished the quarter 14-12 to HSBC.
Second quarter we kept the team the same and continued to put pressure on HSBC, putting our zoning from practice into action. However HSBC started to fond their stride and we finished the half 28-21 to HSBC.
A few changes around on court and some fresh legs in centre court and defence we started to close the gap. Coming within only a few goals of their lead but it wasn’t quite enough as HSBC pulled away again leaving a score of 39-32 to them.
Finally quarter we went out determined to close the gap, but HSBC up their aggression significantly and we lost Lauren to an ankle injury and Becky for blood from should to shin (as shown in pic). HSBC then capitalised I’m a few questionable umpiring calls (or lack of) and we finished 50-38.
Lessons learnt and ready to take them on next time. Players player was awarded to Becky for her outstanding shooting all game despite some very aggressive defence. And POM was given to me (thanks to some their lovely loopy overheads I managed to get a few turnovers). We will get them next time girls!
