Wandsworth D vs. KCLA Red: 38 - 36 (by Gayle)

Our first win of 2019 wooo!!

The match started a little less prepared than some would have liked (Emma B managed to lock her sports bra in the tumble dryer, turn up without water, odd socks and lost her nail file so things were looking pretty bleak as she sat down on the sideline...). The start was a bit shaky on court too with KCLA taking a lead quite quickly. However, Wandsworth turned it on the the second half of the first quarter, upping the pressure and converting some slick goals, with other Emma slotting in great at GS. After a great battle, the quarter ended 10-10.

With original Emma slightly more with it now, we had our first change and then the heavens opened. However we adapted our style of play and made short passes to protect the ball and worked it round patiently. There was some amazing defensive work from Lauren and Fi in the circle, keeping our opponents to only 5 goals this quarter whilst we doubled our score ending the first half 20-15 to us.

Jelly babies were consumed and then we went out were determination and grit in the third quarter. The ball slipped, there were a few head buts of the ball but more importantly Gayle and Emma were owning the shooting circle and the net. The 3rd quarter ended 23-30. Great consistency scoring 10 every quarter.

In the last quarter we let things go slightly, causing Lauren a minor panic on the side line. However steady play, great drives and interceptions from mid court Chloe, Anna and Fran and we managed to hold onto the score. The final score ended 36-38.
