WNC E vs HS D - 47 -24 (by Helen K)

On Saturday The E team played HS D. A bit of a clumsy start from us. Rushing some of the balls and loosing possession a number of times. We finished the first quarter 8-8. Some confusion from the umpires and the scorers this changed to 8-9 to Wandsworth going into the second quarter. After a quick team talk we started playing much stronger. Playing at our own pace and controlling the ball better around the circle, Kim and Daisy were always there to support movement in and out of the circle allowing time and better positioning from Helen and Erin. Erin stood in as shooter again and put some lovely shots up to keep us in the lead.

Coming out of the second quarter with a 23-14 lead. Our success continued into the third quarter and Harriet and Nat were pulling out all the stops in defence to get the rebounds and move the ball down the court. Throughout the match Harriet got some lovely interceptions moving the ball to Mei and Alice who were always in the centre court ready. This talent earned Harriet a well-deserved POM (yay!). We also said hello to a huge down fall of rain in the this quarter but this seemed to work in our advantage and we finished the third quarter with a 36-19 lead.

In the final quarter we maintained a good lead. The rain stopped but we stuck to playing order, slowly feeding the ball down the court. The HS D team had their heads down a bit yet we continued to stay strong finishing with a final score of 47-24.

Another good win but another week where we have struggled in the first quarter making silly mistakes and not getting into the lead quick enough. Worth using the warm up time to do more half court games to get our heads in the game.

For 5 of the E team Saturday finished dressed as dead brides in Clapham – the rest of the E team were missed so we hope you can make it next time!
