WNC E vs Wellcome: 60-17 (by Harriet)

Es set out to generate a convincing win against a Welcome team we knew we'd beaten before. And we succeeded in this despite some bad luck for us in the way of injury.

We came out strongly in the first quarter scoring 16 goals and only conceding 4. Second quarter we were more relaxed but perhaps slightly too relaxed as they came out fighting and they closed the gap on us. We had to respond quickly which we did. There was some really impressive and very slick play down the court; great use of space and clearing it down to Hannah and Steph in few passes. Shooting was on point with Steph getting some amazing goals far out in the D and Helen moving very well around the D.

Then calamity struck and Alice went over on her ankle having to come off. Unfortunately the Cs had pilfered our 8th player-Erin at the time so we had to play with 6.....

However this only seemed to make us stronger, everyone tightened up, Kim and Catherine working very hard in centre court and making more use of Emma in GK. Another convincing win for the Es finishing on 60-17. A mention has to be made to Welcome's goal shooter whose shooting was sensational, without her the score difference may have been even greater.

Thanks a lot to Emma for coming on board at short notice, really impressive defending and Well done Kim for another POM, well deserved.
