Wandsworth E vs. KCLA B: 32-34 (by Ellie K)

Arriving early to get warmed up in Brixton, it was unfortunate that we weren't allowed onto the courts until 10am meaning we didn't get much of a chance to pass a ball around and warm up with some set plays. Once on court we put in place the zoning that we had trialled the week before and the pressure on the opposition meant that they definitely had to work to get the ball in their attacking 3rd and score. The score at the end of the first quarter definitely didn't represent the way we were plying, ending 13 - 2 to KCLA.

Second quarter, we changed it up a bit and after a great team talk went on court ready to bring the score back. After getting into the rhythm as a team, we got a lot tighter in our defensive play and really tried to nail the diamond zone formation, ending the quarter 21-9 to KCLA.

After a much closer second quarter, we went into the third quarter determined that we could close the gap against KCLA. By coming forwards more for the ball and adding in some extra passes, we came away winning the quarter 10-7 with the score of 28-19 to KCLA.

After an awesome third quarter, we knew that it was possible to bring it back, we decided that the zoning wasn't quite working in defence and changed it up a bit, switching to more man on marking, we kept the pressure on and the adrenaline was running. The last two minutes were noisy with some epic supporting and shouting for the sideline as we drew closer and closer to KCLA's score. We played and awesome quarter winning 13-6, bringing the final score to 34-32 to KCLA. If we had have had two more minutes of play, we definitely could have got them!!
