Wandsworth E vs. Portas B: 41 - 11 (by Bec)

We set out raring to go in the first quarter, fired up by a great pep talk by Daisy. Couple of sore heads were declared but sometimes that’s when we deliver our finest work! Unfortunately it was a sluggish start, we matched their pace (slow) and closed the quarter with a very lead score of 5-2.

Switching up our players slightly, we stuck with man on for defence and focused on speeding the pace up and putting our foot on the gas. Pulling away with a more comfortable lead we then had a new issue to focus on: footwork. The umpire whistle was pulling us up every other pass it seemed and we were forced to sharpen up and over emphasis landing to stay on top of the lead.

Though still battling with footwork, we got into our stride and our set plays started dominating the court. Emma and Selina were fully supported by Daisy and Becky throughout and comfortably worked as a unit.

The final quarter saw our defence come in to their own with Rach and Helen completely unforgiving in the D. Arms for days and tips on every other pass stopped the opposition shifting past 11 goals for the whole game. Defending in the D was unrivalled but the defensive attack by every player is definitely something to call out on this game as everyone contributed to this amazing 11-41 victory. A double players player and POM for Rach and a very satisfactory last game for 2018 for the E’s!!
